What Christmas Gift Can You Give God?

God has given us so much that it is time to grant God His wish, which is “… love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might.” (Deuteronomy 6:5) Striving for this kind of love, will make a huge difference in your life, as well as others. Unexpected happenings will make your ordinary days into extraordinary days!

Let’s make this love of God spill out to others in your small actions like giving someone your smile, saying “Thank you” and “Excuse me” as a common courtesy, and opening a door for someone. Continue your loved-filled actions by taking time to listen to a person in need, offering a helping hand, telling someone about Jesus, visiting an elderly person, giving a gift anonymously, and providing money to a person who is going through some hard times. Whatever we do, it is not about us. It is not about doing the right thing. It is all done for others, because of our love of God.

This is a good reason to extend our love to people we don’t even like. Loving them does not mean we condone their actions, but we love them because God created them, and God does not make mistakes. We never know how our acts of love will affect them, but it could be life altering. Only God knows how our love-filled actions can help to transform the broken lives of others, as well as transform us in unimaginable ways for the best.

If we “love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith” (1 Timothy 1:5), we will never be concerned about ourselves. Our love will automatically flow out to others. We won’t be able to keep it inside. It will seek to do what God would want us to do to glorify Him.

God loves us so much that He came as a baby, Jesus, and grew up to spread His love and His Word for us to abide by, so our lives would be filled with joy and peace and wisdom. God loves us so much that He gave His only Son to take on all of our sins and die for us, so we could have eternal life. So let’s thank God by giving Him the best Christmas present this year. A new you! One whose life is love. One whose love permeates the lives of others. One who spreads the love!

Merry Christmas!
